Don't forget turn in this session by having your child complete the short Google Form at the end of the lesson (scroll down).
- Begin with the Sign of the Cross, and pray the prayer on page 177 together.
So Much to Look Forward To
- This episode is about great moments; ask your child if they can think of a great moment in their life so far.
- Watch the video together (or read pg. 179):
The Will of God and Happiness
- Introduce Episode 2 (pgs. 180-181) by asking "Did you know that God speaks to us?" Watch the episode to learn all the ways we can hear God's voice in our lives.
The Prayer Process
- Share with your child how you were taught to pray. This episode introduces the prayer process, which is a way of praying that is very helpful to all ages. (*If you have never been taught to pray, beyond traditional prayers like the Our Father or Hail Mary, that's okay! This process is a great way to learn to have a conversation with God.)
The Power of Great Habits
- Great habits help us to become the best version of ourselves.
- Watch Episode 4 (or read pgs. 184-185).
Daily Prayer
- Read pgs. 186-187 together.
- Ask your child if there is someone in history they admire, and why. How did that person become a great leader, musician, artist, etc.? Talk about the connection between great champions and great habits.
| "Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God's heart. You must speak to Jesus not only with your lips, but with your heart." St. Pio of Pietrelcina |
From the Bible: Jesus Went to a Quiet Place
- Watch Episode 5 together (or read pgs. 188-189).
- After watching, ask your child: "If Jesus needed quiet time, don't you think we do too?"
Be Grateful
- Sometimes if we are sad, it helps to think of things in our life for which we can be grateful.
- Watch Episode 6 or read pgs. 190-191.
- On pg. 193, help your child make a gratitude list. (Don't forget to enjoy the artwork on pg. 192 - maybe discuss with your child what Gospel story is being depicted.)
God Fills You With Joy
- Read pgs. 194-195 together.
- Congratulate them on making their First Reconciliation, and remind them of how exciting it is to be part of this faith journey with them.
- If your child would like, have them "Journal with Jesus" on pg. 198.
Closing Prayer
- Read page 200-201 together or watch Episode 7 below.
End Session 3 by praying St. Francis' prayer together (pg. 201).
